Torah Meditations from Beha’alotcha 6/13/20: Are we Ascending?

How are our lives an offering that is “going up”?

Beha’aoltcha is an incredible portion because it is all about going up!

Numbers 8:2 Now the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, Speak to Aaron and say to him, When you set up the lamps (Beha’alotcha), the seven lamps shall give light in front of the lampstand.

The root of the word beha’alotcha is: “allah” meaning “to go up” or

                                                             “a going up offering”

The Light from these lamps was to go in front of the lampstand. This light had a destination.

Remember this menorah was being set up in the temple and was patterned after a heavenly menorah.

Revelation 4:5 And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.

1. What are the seven lamps in heaven?

2. How are the lamps connected to fire?

Revelation 5:6 And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into the earth.

1. How is the Lamb connected to the seven Spirits of God?

Revelation 1:4-8 Yochanan, to the seven assemblies that are in Asia: Grace to you and peace, from God who is and who was and who is to come; and from the seven Spirits who are before his throne, and from Yesuah the Messiah, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth.  To him who loves us and washed us from our sins by his blood, and he made us to be a Kingdom, priests to his God and Father; to him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever.  Amen. Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, including those who pierced him. All the tribes of the earth will mourn over him. Even so, Amen. I am the Aleph and the Tav, says the Lord God, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.

So incredible is the fact that the 4th word in the first 7 words of Genesis is Aleph-Tav. Aleph-Tav also is the center or 4th candle stick    ALL POINTING TO THE FACT THAT Yeshua is right in the middle of the Menorah – the 4th candle! The light emanating from the branches comes form His light and it is to go out into the world.

Our light comes from the light of Yeshua HaMesschiach –

                                                   The Aleph-Tav

Our light has a destination: it is to be an offering going up –

We offer up our lives to take His light out and be a light to others.

How will our lives be an offering that is going up today?

Revelation 1:12-14 And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks , and in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.  His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were as a flame of fire;

1. Why is the Son of Man’s position in the midst of the candlesticks significant?
