Suddenly! By Sherry Lush

We serve a G-d who does the unexpected and often with great swiftness. He can do a new thing; He can fulfill His Word instantly; He can work through man or do the miraculous to cause something to happen suddenly. All along though, He has been preparing these “suddenlys” in the heavens and on the earth, then He flips the switch. Pastor Mark mentioned that the salvation of G-d comes in the blink of an eye – or suddenly. The Jewish people went from slavery to freedom in one day – amazingly sudden for such a status change. Joseph went from prisoner to ruler in Egypt in one day – amazingly sudden! Are we expecting the unexpected? Are we awake and watching for G-d to act suddenly? Let’s look at just a few “suddenlys” in the Bible….

An angel suddenly appeared to Zechariah in the temple as he performed his duties. Another angel suddenly appeared to Mary announcing to this virgin, yet to be married that she would become pregnant with the Son of G-d! And on the night of His birth, “…suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” Luke 2:13,14 When these sudden events happened, life changed forever.

And here is some welcome news: Proverbs 6:14,15 tells us about the one who devises evil: “With deceit in his heart he devises evil; he continually sows discord. Therefore, calamity will come upon him suddenly; in an instant he will be shattered beyond recovery.” Suddenly, a permanent change will occur.

Are you familiar with those who rely on oppression and rely on deceit – possibly any government systems? Here is what the prophet had to say about oppression and deceit: Therefore, this is what the Holy One of Israel says: “Because you have rejected this message, trusting in oppression, and relying on deceit, this iniquity of your is like a breach about to fail, a bulge in a high wall, whose collapse will come suddenly in an instant!” Isaiah 30:13 In other words, G-d has a plan for those who devise evil and those who use deceit and oppression, and it will be brought down.

And we can be greatly encouraged because He answers our requests. “Dear woman, Jesus said to her, ‘your faith is great. Your request is granted,’ and her daughter was instantly healed.” Matt. 15:28 Healing and answers to prayer can come suddenly – in an instant.

And He reminds us to keep our priorities and our hearts right, saying: “Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you suddenly like a trap. Luke 21:34

Mark 13:35, 36 Therefore keep watch, because you do not know when the master of the house will return – whether in the evening at midnight when the rooster crows, or in the morning lest he come suddenly and find you asleep.

Are we awake and watching? His redemptions come suddenly! Come quickly, Lord, Yeshua!
