Would you like some good news to think about? Well, here you go! Let’s talk about heritage. Heritage can be a lot of things. It can be a proclivity toward living to be 100 or toward having a particular illness. Heritage can be a custom passed down from your family, or it can be a value or standard that you live by. It can also be a birthright of property or position that will someday belong to you, and that is what we are going to look at today. Pastor Mark brought out a couple of fantastic verses from Ezekiel about heritage that are so exciting.
Ezekiel 47:21-23 “You will make a division of the land among you, tribe by tribe. And you are to make a distribution of it, by the decision of the Lord, for a heritage to you and to the men from other lands who are living among you and who have children in your land: they will be the same to you as if they were Israelites by birth, they will have their heritage with you among the tribes of Israel. In whatever tribe the man from a strange land is living, there you are to give him his heritage, says the Lord.”
Let’s look at the incredible promise of heritage from these verses.
- Who is making this decision about the distribution of land?
- Who is in line for the heritage?
- What will happen to men from other lands?
- Will men from other lands be treated differently?
- How will they be treated?
- Where will the heritage of the stranger be?
Do the answers to these questions excite and encourage you? We have a heritage; we have not been overlooked! This is great news to begin this year with. We have a hope and a future! Focusing on this great news can be a true sustaining force even in these chaotic times. Be encouraged!
