Meditations in Ezekiel 8/15/20

As Pastor Mark stated, “Israel was also Reisheet; they were to be the first of the nations. ….. the nation of Israel was to succeed where Adam fell……(Israel)  was to  justify the creation of the universe….. which was to worship the Creator!” G-d wants His Light to go forth and He begins by giving Adam the job, but when Adam fails, He passes the torch…….

Adam fails and G-d declares to Israel how to worship Him and be a light to the nations

                                                        when He says:

Deuteronomy 4:6,7 So keep these laws, and do them, for so will your wisdom and good sense be clear in the eyes of the peoples who hearing all these laws will say, Truly, this great nation is a wise and far-seeing people.  For what great nation has a god so near to them as the Lord our God is, whenever we turned to him in prayer?

1. What was Israel called to do? Why? What would their obedience produce?

                                                Did Israel succeed?

Ezekiel 5:5-9 This is what the Lord has said: This is Jerusalem: I have put her among the nations, and countries are round her on every side; And she has gone against my orders by doing evil more than the nations, and against my rules more than the countries round her: for they have given up my orders, and as for my rules, they have not gone in the way of them. For this cause the Lord has said: Because you have been more uncontrolled than the nations round about you, and have not been guided by my rules or kept my orders, but have kept the orders of the nations round about you; For this cause the Lord has said: See, I, even I, am against you; and I will be judging among you before the eyes of the nations. And I will do in you what I have not done and will not do again, because of all your disgusting ways.

1. What has Jerusalem (referring to all of Israel) done?

2. Sadly, what are the consequences?

3. How do these results contrast with Deuteronomy 4:6,7?

So Israel fell in their role, but One came out of Israel…..

Isaiah 9:6,7a For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and of HIs peace, there shall be no end.

Isaiah 42:6 I will make you as a light for the nations, that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth.

Isaiah 52:10 The LORD has bared his holy arm before the eyes of all the nations, and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.

Isaiah 60:3 And nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.

Both Isaiah and Yeshua declare Who the Light is.

John 8:12 Again Jesus spoke to them, saying I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.

And Yeshua passed on His calling, saying…..

Mark 16:15 He said to them, (you) Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.

Now we are responsible to be a light in the world as the Light lives in

                                                      every believer!
