Exodus 10:20: “So Moses said, Thus says the Lord: About midnight I will go out in the midst of Egypt, and every firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die.”
Pastor Mark brought out, “Why did the Lord say, “ABOUT midnight?” Why did G-d say “about”? The answer: it is a warning to BE READY. For at any time around midnight, death could strike. Do what you need to do now, and be ready.
In Matthew 24, the disciples asked Yeshua, “Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?”
And Yeshua answered, telling them to watch for many signs that would happen prior to His coming and the end of the age. Then He punctuated His answer with this statement:
Matthew 24:33 “In the same way, when you see all these things, you can know his return is very near, right at the door.”
Once again as in the verse in Exodus, we are not given an exact date or time of His return. He simply says, when you see all of these things, My return is “very near.” The warning about death coming about midnight was to prompt them to be ready, not to wait until the last minute, because they didn’t know when the last minute was. Likewise, when the signs He mentions are all happening, what do they tell us? He is very near. He is telling us to be ready because we don’t know the exact day or time of the day that He will return.
He is just saying: BE READY!
