A Living Sacrifice

What does it mean to be a living sacrifice? It is really very encouraging! To be a living sacrifice means you have been set free. You are no longer slaves, and you now have the ability to do what is righteous. You can do what is righteous because you have died with Messiah, and have been raised in His resurrection power. The very power that raised Yeshua from the dead now lives in you! This is how you have the power to be a living sacrifice.

Being a living sacrifice means you can offer something that the Lord will accept. What is acceptable and pleasing to God? It is pleasing to G-d when we, as His children, do the things He does. As His children, He wants us to be like Him. He has offered us His mercy, love and forgiveness, and we can now extend mercy, love and forgiveness to others.

We are no longer slaves to our own desires. Now we have the freedom and the power to comfort and inspire others and to abhor what is evil. We can now bless and not curse, and we are able to share with and help people. We can be truly happy with those who are happy, and we can mourn with those who mourn; seeking revenge is no longer what we do, but we can now forgive others, because we are free to do what Yeshua would do.

How exciting to know that our lives can be a living sacrifice because of the compassions of G-d who makes it possible.  He has set us apart to do these things that He does.

We have died with Him, so we can now live lives of sacrifice, just as He did!

Romans 12:1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God–this is your true and proper worship.

Blessings and Shalom!
